1) to become evening, grow dark
1a) (Qal) to become evening, grow dark
1b) (Hiphil) to spend the evening, do at evening
Now, taking into consideration the above information, let us
look at the following Scriptures:
Ex 12:6 And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the
same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of
Israel shall kill it in the evening. {in...: Heb. between the
two evenings}
By looking at 06150 and 53 above we can plainly see the correct
meaning of evening or between the two evenings! See De 16:6
below!
Nu 9:3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at evening, ye
shall keep it in its appointed season: according to all its
rites, and according to all its ceremonies, shall ye keep it.
{at even: Heb. between the two evenings}
And, of course, the same applies here also!
De 16:6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose
to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover
at evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time of thy
departure from Egypt.
At the setting of the sun cannot possibly be made any plainer!
See Ex 12:6 above!
Mr 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
And here we see that the third hour was between 6am to 9am
which coincides with all other Scriptures!
Mr 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness
over the whole land until the ninth hour.
And we see here that the sixth hour is clearly 9am to 12 noon
or midday! And the darkness lasted until the ninth hour, which
could have been anywhere from midday to 3pm! Now it is plain
to see that had it been night, it would, of necessity, had to
have been dark the whole time and not just a part of the time!
Mr 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice,
saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being
interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Now, since most scholars say that He died at 3pm, rather than
some time between midday and 3pm, do we see any reason to not
accept this time since it does allow plenty of time between 3pm
and 6pm (sunset) to quickly but not completely prepare His body
for burial and bury it in the tomb in order to keep within the
law!
Mt 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud
voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My
God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
And, of course, the same applies here!
Ge 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he
called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first
day. {And the evening...: Heb. And the evening was, and the
morning was}
Now, as we see from above on the natural day and the natural
night, this is also self explanatory!
Ex 30:8 And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at the evening, he
shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD
throughout your generations. {lighteth: or setteth up: Heb.
causeth to ascend} {at even: Heb. between the two evenings}
* and when Aaron sets up the lamps in the evening, he shall
burn it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your
generations. See Ex 12:6 and De 16:6 above!
And here also, it is self explanatory, for why would Aaron even
