I haven't used a spare for years... but then, that's what AAA is for...
All my car has is a space-saver, better than nothing, I suppose, but not
something I'd be particularly trusting anyway... Fortunately, when I've
needed something, it was relatively local, and I was able to "hitch" a
ride to the tire place.. Most recently, even having a spare wouldn't
have helped any anyway, as I managed to destroy not one but two tires in
one fell swoop (nasty potholes!!)... needed the tow...
Once upon a time, I didn't like traveling without a full-size spare, and
had one special-ordered for my Dodge Shadow, back in 1989... :) Never
needed it, thankfully, but I had it just in case... :)
