| subject: | Drop 16-bit Max version? |
BJ> Since I plan to take the code forward with support for BJ> long file names, etc., would anyone object to removing BJ> the 16-bit (DOS and OS/2) compiled versions from future BJ> development? I'd go along with that. Time to move on... BJ> The new future targets in this case would BJ> be Win32, OS/2 (32-bit), Unix based (Linux, FreeBSD, BJ> maybe NeXT Step / Open Step / Mac OS/X), and possibly a BJ> 32-bit DOS extender (if someone is willing to help in this area). I'd love to see those happen. Based on what I've seen in my neck of the woods, however, I do question wether a 32-bit DOS version would be of any real use. Because of y2k and other remaining DOS limitations, I don't know of anyone who hasn't switched to something else. I don't forsee any of these people switching BACK to DOS, especially if the above listed 32 bit targets become a reality BEFORE the 32 bit DOS version does. --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: McAllen Memorial Library BBS (1:397/5258) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 397/5258 1 106/1 379/1 633/267 |
