The "one page addition" did not provide the mysterious, undocumented settings
that Hayes techs have suggested I try in resolving problems.
If you're claiming that between the original, printed manual for the Optima
V.FC, the "one page addition" and the TRM288 file that's available on their
web site that I have complete documentation, I can only conclude that the
Hayes technicians have been making stuff up.
As an example, I reported to Hayes that setting B81 did not force a V.FC
connection as opposed to a V.34 connection. Without bothering to explain why
that was, the Hayes technician (Aziz) suggested I try setting S110 to 6 (and
explained that a setting of 4 forced V.34). These are not documented anywhere
I can find, and, in fact, didn't work.
I must admit that once I finally got somebody at Hayes to believe that they
sent me a defective modem (and I'm very happy with their Cambridge, Ontario
office's level of service), most of my problems have disappeared.
I'd still like complete documentation.
