If you are using a multitasking environment, then that could be causing a
problem. It also depends on how long the lead is from each PC- the chances are
that if the PC that has the 16550 UARTs is a long distance from the phone
plug and the PC with the 8250s is close with no extension phone cord, the 16550
UART PC could quite well be impaired by crummy lines.
