subject: chrysler 300 (was: ford focus 2005)

ml> speaking of that chrysler 300, i've found a couple of problems that
ml> i'm hoping will have an easy fix...

ml> 1. the rear passenger door's inside handle doesn't automatically
ml> swing back to the stored position... i'm hoping it is something like
ml> a spring that just needs to be put back on... the door opens and
 ml> closes properly...

RW> Probably a lubrication problem, or the link may be corroded. Try
RW> some penetrating fluid at the point where the handle pivots.

it doesn't feel like a lube problem... there's no resistance when you pull
the handle... that's why i was thinking about a broken spring...

ml> 2. the driver's door speaker doesn't work but the front passenger
ml> door speaker does as well as those in the rear deck area... any ideas
ml> on where to look first?? is the door panel easy to remove? what about
ml> getting at the wiring under the dash and behind the console?

RW> There are covered cables that run from the kick panel area to/thru
RW> the door. Could be a broken wire, as that cable is flexed everytime
RW> you open and close the door. At the back of the radio all of the
RW> speaker and power wires are in a connector that plugs into the
 RW> radio. I don't think you'll find a problem there unless a 'butcher'
RW> has been working on the stereo system.

nope... i don't know how long the driver's door speakers have been out...
they may not have been working when my mom got the car... i'll have to
check with my BiL and see if it was working when he had it... it was a
company vehicle...

ml> i don't have a good manual for this one yet but i will before too
ml> long... i'd just like to maybe get these two things fixed before i
ml> let my 1995 Gran Prix go... i'm gonna miss that 3.0L and its 30mpg :?

RW> I'll bet you can find a wiring diagram on the internet...

i might, that's true...
