I associate Buddhism with the Far East, and so my thinking went
along these lines: "There are lots of Buddhists in the Far East;
China is in the Far East; there must be lots (percentage-wise) of
Buddhists in China; China has more than a billion people; so
there must be more Buddhists in the world."  It took my seeing
the answer before I thought, "Duh... China is a Communist
country, so few, if any, would *admit* to being Buddhist, even if
they really did practice."
