Concerning _Pro-43 full coverage_, Andrew Porrett said to Troy H. Cheek in
SCANRADIO:
AP>> - find a cell-restored '43
AP>>
AP>> - on logic board, solder a diode between the D1 anode pad
AP>> and the D5 cathode pad (use same orientation as existing diodes)
AP>
TH>> I take it you've actually tried this?
AP>
AP> Of course. (About five times, actually)
Okay. Just checking. None of the folks I'd asked locally knew anything
about this mod...
AP> I went with my method since it's easy to do, and has no effect
AP> on the higher bands, and I'm satisfied with it.
Well, I certainly don't want to take anything away while trying to *add* to
my scanner, so your method does have a certain appeal...
TH>> How good is CB reception? That's around 27 MHz, right?
TH>> Need a special antenna, or will the average wide band
TH>> (30-1300 MHz) work all right?
AP>
AP> Reception is at least as good as a BC2500XLT. I used a
AP> broadband dipole mounted in a small tree and picked up
AP> truckers a few miles away.
Haven't tried the BC2500XLT. Have you tried the Pro-2035? I use the
supplied collapsable to pick up the local CB enthusiasts from several miles
away. Of course, I suspect they're broadcasting with just a little more
power than your average trucker. :-)
TH>> Latching LED backlights? What's this, exactly?
AP>
AP> Three yellow LED's replacing the light bulb.
AP> Normally off until the light button is pressed,
AP> then on until the scanner is turned off.
Any way this can be modified to turn the LED's on and off at will?
... And don't start a sentence with a conjunction.
