FWIW, it is possible to have support for LFNs in 16-bit DOS programs. I
think you need to write wrappers around fopen(), FindFirst(), etc, though.
But you would need to do that for the 32-bit DOS Watcom build anyway. I
think it's just DJGPP that has C library support for LFNs in DOS, but I
can't say for sure, because I'm only going by memory, and that feature
doesn't seem to work in Windows 2000, so maybe I imagined it.

I hope you're used to dealing with byte ordering (endian) issues, for the
non-i386 ports. :-)
One of my test boxes is a PowerPC running Linux. It can be a bit of a
challenge porting some things that assume "Little Endian"
architecture.
