subject: Motorola NAMing options

I've got a Motorola 2900n bag phone and am wondering what the various
options actualy do rather than the default settings.
I've spoken to Motorla and after _much_ disscussion got the following :
To NAM you press Fcn, 0 + sixdigit security code twice, then press Rcl
then move thru the options by pressing *
01 08576 - Auckland These relate to top of North Island
08580 - Wellington bottom of North Island and South Island
      08582 - Christchurch
 02 530
 03 0 then phone number
 04 Standard factory setting = 12 for mobile ,carry/transportable
                               = 14 for portable/microtac, Nadc
05 0 and last digit of phone number
 06 Standard setting = 00
 07 Six digit security code
 08 Three digit lock code
 09 Standard setting = 0334
10 011100 enable handset H/F speaker for the mobile
      111100 enable external H/F speaker
      Standard setting = 111100 Portable/microtac
      Standard setting = 0737 NADC portable/microtac
      Standard setting = 011100 carryphone/transportable
 11 3 digit = 100 \
      4 digit = 1100 > mobile and portable/microtac
      5 digit = 11100 /
      Standard setting = 111100 NADC portable/microtac
      3 digit = 110 \
      4 digit = 1110 > carryphone/transportable
      5 digit = 11110 /
 12 5 digit only = 11100 NADC portable/microtac
  Press Snd to finish
So what do all these Standard settings do ? 01, 03, 07 & 08 are simple
enough how about the rest ?
 Now to the moderator :
In New Zealand it is not illegal to play with these settings or to know
what they do. However it maybe illegal to use the phone after changing
some, but if I cant find out which ones... ?
Also if the fido rules say that the laws of the country where moderator
lives shall apply to the echo, then maybe the moderatorship should go
to some one in a country with less restrictive laws, or the rules
should be changed to reflect the international nature of the echo. This
would allow free discussion of all matters relating to cellular
phones. Why should we out side of the USA be governed by your laws just
because you live there ? So much for free speach.
