And that doesn't make your case any stronger or at all that *nix is not a
suitable string for referencing Linux, Unices or BSD..
And hint... Linux has more to do with MINIX than anything...

Relationship with Linux
Early influence
The design principles Tanenbaum applied to MINIX greatly influenced the design
decisions Linus Torvalds applied in the creation of the Linux kernel.[citation
needed] Torvalds used and appreciated MINIX,[15] but his design deviated from
the MINIX architecture in significant ways, most notably by employing a
monolithic kernel instead of a microkernel. This was disapproved of by
Tanenbaum in the Tanenbaum–Torvalds debate.
I personally don't see any leg for your argument against *nix as a good, no
GREAT shorthand for Linux, Unices, or BSD. They are all related in very healthy
dosages to each other..just as crap, dumb, useless, insert other perjorative of
choice for some other alleged PC based "OS." I have some other choice words for
some other crapple, I don't care how much of it was/is from BSD... that only
saves it from getting the same treatment as something else posing as an OS.
This has been settled anyway in that the mainstream usage of *nix referes to
LINUX and UNICES.
