JD> [...] BJ> which would then make them available via Telnet, VModem BJ> and BinkP protocols, via either Fidonet Freq's or via BJ> BBS downloads. JD> Still dreaming... JD> Do you use Irex... and allow email freqs? I don't use Irex. The software I'm running for the BBS is free for non-commercial (i.e. hobby) usage. The only things I've purchased software wise for the BBS has been OS/2 and SIO. The only thing some one else has purchased, softtware wise, for my use, was Allfix, and that was so we could get me set up as a hub very quickly (that's what the local net knew how to use, and I didn't have the time to figure out my other options, such as Seal, etc.] I try to keep this as a hobby..... And hence, my interest to eventually get maximus running on a Linux (or similar) based system... But that's another subject.... As to e-mail freq's, I haven't sent up any e-mail / fidonet gating at this time. I've figured if you wanted fidonet material, you could figure out how to freq something via supported internet protocols or download it from the BBS. Since BinkD is freely redistributable, and has precompiled binaries for almost any platform, and will allow one to request files, it may take work, but it is do-able. A minimal web site could include Win32 and OS/2 compiled copies of BinkD, with a sample control file and file request to show how to do what one wants.... [The sample file request could freq the magic file name FILES, which on my system is getting rather large....] Besides, any files that UUEncode to over 3 to 5 Mb in size would probably have to be split (and then re-assembled), and might have problems with the receiver's mail box getting too full.... E-mail is not a good solution.... One should use other methods for files over about 1/2 Mb in size.... JD> Thanks You're welcome. Take care.....
