I've never seen cygwin touted as a "complete" BASH setup.. the base package
provides a BASH shell, and the basic file stuff, etc... but not a complete *NIX
environment.
cygwun has always been touted as a close enough to a real *Nix system to do
alot of things that a real *Nix system could.. and with addons like Cygwin/X
you could do X windowing.
I've found that keeping a USB stick with XMING, and putty around works better
when things are so horked up on a system you can't boot a USB stick with a REAL
OS and bypass the diseases on them... Just start putty, XMING and XDMCP via SSH
back to a real box. I use that as the last resort if I can't get my USB stick
to boot. Work on my boxes from any where in the world!
