NZ_Fidonet Rules

Updated 25th April 2003 ( Anzac Day ) here.

You are encouraged to post in this Echo any thoughts you have in your
mind about ANY SUBJECT you like.

This Echo is not topic oriented.

Keep in mind we only have a FEW RULES.....

1. No SWEARING. Keep in mind that we wish to keep this a Family Echo.

2. No FLAMING any of the other users of this Echo. You may disagree with
   other users opinions and their posts but just because another poster
   uses Linux (any Version) as opposed to Windows (any Version) or uses
   a Ford (insert their brand here) as opposed to a Holden
   (insert your brand here) this doesn't make you right and them wrong.

3. No AD HOMINEM arguments. Don't attack the poster of a message in a
   personal way. You can certainly debate the content of a message.

Finally.... But this is not a RULE as such.... Think of yourself as being
at a dinner party with mixed company. It just happens that your Mother
and Father are present as are your Children along with others that you
don't know all that well. You are sitting in the lounge and you are
going to say something.

This is OUR LOUNGE and I want everyone to be able to say what is on
their mind but not to be offensive whilst doing so.

One of the original rules in Fidonet ( from Policy 4.07 )
which is still the policy we work under today stated (quoted direct from
the original) is between the lines as it were. :-)

9.1  General

The FidoNet judicial philosophy can be summed up in two rules:

     1) Thou shalt not excessively annoy others.

     2) Thou shalt not be too easily annoyed.

In other words, there are no hard and fast rules of conduct, but reasonably
polite behavior is expected.  Also, in any dispute both sides are examined,
and action could be taken against either or both parties. ("Judge not, lest
ye be judged!"
