Oh, I'm so tempted to respond to that. 
Anyway, from your perspective I see your point. From mine, however,
when their posts are defamatory I hardly see any reason or 
justification or strategy in sitting by and letting them get away with 
it.  To the extent that this imposes on the rights of other people on
the conference, I certainly apologize.  However, it is somewhat out of
my control; and it is they who are making the objectionable posts.
