| subject: | RE: ATM Wire spiders. |
From: "Scott Berfield" To: Reply-To: "Scott Berfield" Theory aside, if I wanted to build one of these beasts (a wire spider) how much tension is usually used to create a good stable setup? I would imagine something like piano wire would work well, but does it take a lot of tension to lock the thing in place? How do you go about making sure that the diagonal holder is centered (and properly offset) - are there assembly tricks to make this easier since it seems like it would be a lot harder to adjust the centering once it was all assembled. With solid vanes, if I make them all the same length, I can pretty much assume a centered diagonal - and it is easy to adjust the exact center with spacers and such without worrying about tension issues. Has anyone tried making a wire spider in a hoop arrangement that could then be mounted in the tube rather than building it directly into the tube? Also, isn't there more room for vibration in such a setup over solid vaned spiders? --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-4* Origin: Email Gate (1:379/100) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/100 1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
