3 seconds is a lot longer than the nearly instant resize I get on the same
page with Mozilla FireFox on a 2.2 Ghz P4 laptop with WinXP Home.

Do you have FireFox on the same machine?

Do you happen to have Knoppix Linux on a CD? With that you could test that
same machine with Linux.

If I could get my Opera install on Linux to complete I could compare Opera
and FireFox on Linux.
