COMPLIANCE WARNING
AUSTEL regulations limit the number of outgoing calls which are
permitted to be automatically initiated on the telecommunications
network. For this equipment the regulations require the line to
be released after ten calls (the original plus nine automatically
initiated retries).
Setting the modem and any communications software used with the
modem to a value greater than this will result in the modem
operating in a non-compliant manner. Consequently, there would be
no permit in force for this equipment, and the Telecommunications
Act 1991 prescribes a penalty of $12,000 for the connection of
non-permitted equipment.
_______________________________________________________________
TELEPHONE PORT
The User's Manual refers to the use of a second telephone port on
the modem. This port is not available on your modem.
_______________________________________________________________
POWER SOCKET
Your mains socket should be installed near the modem and be
easily accessible.
_______________________________________________________________
INTERCONNECTING PORTS
Interconnection circuits should be such that the equipment
continues to comply with the requirements of AS3260 1.2.8.5 for
SELV circuits.
The auxilliary port on this modem is the 25 way DCE socket
located on the rear panel. The type of the circuit on this port
is SELV.
