Subject: air lines
Fellow Federationists and listers,
For those who think that the air line war was a waste of money look at the
number of blind persons employed by the Nation's air lines; it's a very,
very few. Perhaps if we did not encounter the attitudes among the air
lines towards the seating of blind passingers it would stand to reason
that just maybe they would be more willing to hire more blind employees.
After all, if there were possible hazards and risks involved in the
seating of blind passingers on their planes then how could we ever expect
them to be willing to hire us in numbers. Perhaps they may think that
hiring large numbers of blind persons poses some sort ot sagfety risk of
one kind or another. Henced it is necessary to fight discrimination
against the blind no matter how it occurrs, whether it involves the
seating of blind passingers on the plane or getting them to make their
reservations software systems accessible so that more jobs for blind
reservations agents are created.
soo the next time you accuse us of spending too much money on something
such as the air line war take a look at the big picture. If we end
discrimination against blind air passingers just maybe one of us could be
corpora te president of one of our Nation's air lines tomorrow.
