Hey Waz....

The first thing with the extra user is a ghost problem I have had
too.....after multiple fdisks and re-installs...it stopped doing that....I
never got any explanation myself from Novell Support.

As far as loading 4.11 or 5.0 on a windows machine......forget it...unless
you run system commander or a dual boot setup, one to dos 6.2 and your
windows as the other, you can't run both on the same computer.

The reason is the same reason for your hard drive error....if you are using
the entire disk already for your windows environment there is no free disk
space for Novell to load onto....

I suggest the following 2 options..

fdisk your machine and clear all partitions, then create a primary dos
partition of about 2gb. then format your primary partition and load
windows. Then load system commander. Then use system commander (boot from
floppy option) to install dos 6.2.

when you are done you will get a boot screen from system commander to go to
windows or to dos or boot from floppy...

to install Novell...go to dos section in system commander....boots to c:
prompt like regular dos..

load your CD-ROM drivers and then run installation from CD-ROMs.

Novell will find all your unused and unformatted space and use it for the
root volume. A directory on your dos partition will be created for booting
the server called c:\NWSERVER

reboot again when finished the install as the instructions say and go to dos
selection again.....change directories to c:\nwserver (or put it in your
path statement) and run server.exe............you are on your way from
there...works the same for 5.just save some of the space on the drive or add
another drive for 5.0 and use its space for the root volume....be sure to
use another dos partition with system commander if you wan to run 4.11 and
5.0 on the same machine at the same time but not simultaneously.....so you
will have two separate dos selections on system commander menu one for 4.11
and one for 5.0.....tricky.,....but that is what I do and it works fine for
me...

the other option is to remove windows altogether, fdisk and clear your
system....you have no choice here because you have no space on the hard
drive for Novell's files and NDS file system...

then it is your choice to run a dual boot or dos only with the
server......what good is a server unless you have two machines anyway...if
you don't have two machines to start with don't even bother......use the
simulation software and testing.....save up for a server then run your best
machine for windows and a cheap one for server....it is only a test bench
anyway..

hope I was helpful.....wordy too....but...I was bored...and saw your request
for help....I did my good deed for the day...

Good Luck
