We just get stuffed.  The best form of backup for todays large-format disks are
more large-format disks.  To back up an 80 gig drive (for example) I doubt you
will get anything cheaper than another 80 gig drive.

Magnetic media here suffers from the environment.  A sort of fungus grows on
tapes and floppies and there is nothing you can do.  You can keep them in a
sealed container with silica gel, but you have to take them out to use them and
eventually, your backup go bye-bye.
