I have a problem with this. I don't use Windows other than
3.11 and Yes, I have Linux (slackware). I often get old computers for
a song that intergrate into my setup.
I have had tremondous problems with that Protected mode shim
under Drdos. I keep getting a crash when using it. (both the msdos and
drdos versions). In fact, I had more problems with emm386 too! yet the
same system works fine under Linux. (I am using it via Linux right now
in fact.)
	I don't have a C compiler for Drdos/Msdos and because my
system crashes on protected mode programs I cannot use gnu djgpp or
whatever that thing is called. Thus I would be forced to stick with 16
bit msdos real mode Max for several systems. Now under Linux on the
same machine that crashes/farts under msdos I have no problem. Nor do
you need to worry about a LFN driver either. There IS a freeware lfn
driver for msdos and real mode if you are interested to know. I found
it via www.google.com or www.yahoo.com.
