>> I am also eager to see a 33600 conneect with these Rockwell modems, to >> another Rockwell and also to a USR Courier. What is on the other end of this link....and whose choice was the /NONE. HM> Or with the latest ROMs HM> + 3:20:04 Calling Metric Malfunctions 2, 3:632/372, 9305-5297 HM> = 3:20:26 CONNECT 33600/ARQ/LAPM/NONE HM> + 3:20:41 Metric Malfunctions Line 2, 3:632/372 DITTO... the above questions. HM> Actually, I'm not running the latest ROMs (all 33.6 ROMs are beta) HM> because HM> there are other bugs with it which make it unusable for me. >> Has any one got access to BOTH a courier AND a Rockwell 33600??? >> Could they please connet both mmodems together with a 1 or 2 metre >> modular cable and do a line probe with the courier? HM> Not a good test. During a connection the exchange provides +10V dc, which HM> will HM> not be present on this loopback test. It works with a lot of modems but HM> is not HM> guaranteed. >> I wager that the Rockwell will not actually get up to 33600, due to >> its inferior Trellis code utilization. HM> With early Supra 33.6 ROMs (like the one I'm using) it would not connect HM> with HM> Courier at 33.6. However, this was due to the USR believing it could not HM> obtain HM> a 33.6 connect with a Rockwell or something to this effect, and Supra HM> fixed it HM> with some modifications (eg kludges for USR's bugs). And as far as I am concerned YOUR SUPRA 33600 is NOT THE AVERAGE 33600 ROCKWELL MODEM, because Supra do a lot of work to improve what they start with. Which other Manuufacturer using a Rockwell chip has taken the time to improve connections to USR's or other Manufacturers? Oh, and that USR BUG that you are refering to is in fact there because Rockwell had gone there own way in the first place and USR had to De-Tune their technology to be more compatiable with THEM. (A KLUDGE FOR A KLUDGE) Now you are saying that Supra has to go backwards to go forwards.
