Well, it took a _lot_ longer than I ever dreamed of, but I finally got
thru to the Sysop, and got your file. I did some playing around with
it, and I have at least three problems with it (which would be only two
for most folks) (comparisons were with CKOT20.ZIP).

1. I does not address nested archives; ie, if there is an ARJ inside of
a ZIP, and it had a virus in it, it would not be found by your pgm (I
presume), since all indications that I had, it definitely did not
convert it to ZIP, so I infer that it did not process the nested ARJ.

CKOT will handle nested archives, to any depth that your
memory/diskspace will accommodate.

2. It apparently does not address RAR archives. I didn't have one on
hand, and since it was not mentioned in any of your dox, I didn't create
one to test. Admittedly, these are not widely used, but their usage is
increasing. Whereas some of those that are addressed, I have NEVER
encountered. Further RAR200 can significantly outpace ZIP for archival
size.

CKOT also does not address RAR.

3. It does not mesh with my AV pgm, Invircible v6.12d, nor could I get
it to do so by renaming IVSCAN.EXE to SCAN.EXE (which does work for
CKOT). Perhaps it had to do with my operating in a full screen DOS
window under Warp 4, but this doesn't hinder CKOT. I also tried both
names (IVSCAN and SCAN) in the AU.CFG (nice!) file.

On a selected group of archives, CKOT timed faster, but it was not a
level playing field, given the scan problems. I also much prefer the
running header info from CKOT, which lets you see right where you are as
you process. Alas CKOT is not freeware, tho it practically is, since it
is no longer supported. If you can find a cy of CKOT20, I'd recommend
you give it a look-see. But for freeware, I was most impressed.
BTW, I could find no other method of contact than here. This in spite
of your DOC file inviting a mail response. Else I would have done this
in e-mail/Netmail. Again, thanks for the hands-on, and I will be
sending it on to BFDS HQ. But be forewarned, that route is paved by the
same company that did the route between me and my Sysop.  {^;
Good Modeming! /\oo/\
