There's an undocumented feature in the IntranetWare client to get
around this:

1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Select Properties
3. Select the Environment tab
4. Type MAPROOTOFF in the Variable box (case-sensitive, BTW)
5. Type 1 in the Value Box
6. Click on the Add button
7. Reboot

The result of this is that the Map command will now work as expected.
An explicit MAP ROOT command will actually map a root, while a plain
ol' MAP command doesn't. I haven't tested this with v4.3, but it
works great with 4.1.
