When you say "server" what is YOUR use of this server?

When you say that to me that means a LAMP server L-inux A-pache M-ysql P-hp
which is in essence the basics for server up web pages that you commonly see.

Apache is the web server http daemon
MySQL is the database if you need it a lot of stuff needs that now days
Php is one language used to create pages, along with HTML, ECMAScript, etc..

Or is this some other server??? What task are you planning for this "server"

ZOrin is just a Ubuntu repacked with an emphasis on the GUI to be similar to
such garbage as winslbber and macrapple (which its current flavor is BSD
*derived*)

If you have no intention of using it for any GUI stuff, I would stick to the
main release Ubuntu Server and go... Debian is another good choice but you
could be hampered with issues regarding their DFSG policy on some things.

Personally I would stay AWAY from:

Gentto - everything has to be compiled
Red Hat and its prodigny CentOS, Fedora - The RPM package system is horrid and
a nightmare compared to the superior APT of Debian based like Zorin, Ubuntu,
Mint etc..
SUSE/SLES - Really geared only as a PAID distro for enterprise use, and is RPM
based.

Get some of the Live DVD's and plop them in a machine to try out. Or pull down
VMWare Player and stick them in a Virtual Machine (VM) to play with.

If you are totally new to *Nix then I would strongly suggest you stick to
Ubuntu... while the CLI side for the most is similar to each distro the package
management systems, how you install software on Linux, is not, and some work
better, APT (Debian/Ubuntu/Zorin/Mint), versus others that don't, RPM aka yum
aka zipper (RH/CentOS/SLES/Fedora).
