It can be done easily with a guitar string (if there is room enough to get
the string between dowel and secondary). The silicone can be removed with
eucalyptus oil, after raw cleaning with a razor blade or something. Put the
oil on the silicone, let it do its work a bit and rub it off. When I read
about the eucalyptus oil for the first time I could hardly believe it, but
it works well.
