Been getting this echo for a couple of weeks now so I wondered if anyone
here had a solution to a problem I've got with nicad's for mobiles.
 
In the latter part of 1995 I purchased a Motorola Ultra Sleek 9780 analogue
mobile. It's been working fine...until just a couple of weeks ago when the
battery started to play up on me. I put it through its required 12 hour 
charge using an overnight charger (plug pack), but then instead of getting
just over 7 to 8 hours on standby, I get only 3 with a talktime of little 
more than 20 minutes before it's dead. 
 
Is the battery wearing out and do I need to replace it, and if it isn't
wearing out, is there a way of putting some extra life back into it? ..and
is there any truth that you don't really need to buy a dedicated replacement
battery (a non-Motorola type?)
