Harrumph! I beg to differ. Our present war on drugs is
tremendously successful. Just look at the numbers. Its a 500
billion dollar industry if we include not only the tremendous profits
but also the cost of enforcement, including incarceration.
If drugs were somehow decriminalized; if it was no longer hugely
profitable to sell them, there'd be massive unemployment of
policemen, bankers, prison guards, pilots, clerical workers,
telephone tappers, and lawyers. We'd have a depression on our hands
that would make the 30s look like a picnic.
Lets never legalize drugs. Brrrrr. the thought of all those angry
unemployed guys with guns scares the chamomile tea out of me.
