Some of them old computers seem to be a lot tougher than some of the ones

UAE is what I've used on Windows for games, and it seemed to work fine, but
I haven't used it enough to see of any downsides it might have.

Good news is, I'm pretty sure almost all the Amigas had RS-232 serial
ports, so you should be able to use a common null modem cable to hook it to
your main computer.  If you don't have a serial port, you can buy a usb to
serial adapter pretty cheap these days.  From there, you'd need to find
some software, presumably for OSX in your case, to listen on a TCP
connection on your main computer, and pass communication through your
serial port.  Since OSX is based on Unix, this might end up being fairly
simple to do already without even downloading anything, since I know Linux
can do it, but I have no idea off the top of my head the exact process
without doing some research.
