Hi Peter -

PP> Problems arose when I tried to run FB -a It said something about

PP> SET MAXIMUS=C:\MAX\MAX.PRM which I already had there.

PK> Had you rebooted (so the SET had been actioned) before
PK> running FB? Is the MAX.PRM file actually in that location?

The problem was that I had SET MAX as opposed to SET MAXIMUS. Such a simple
thing, but I it caused enough of a problem. Anyhow, that is one more out
of the way now.

PP> Then I noticed something funny with the FSE. WHen I

PK> Yes, that change was implemented between Maximus V2 and V3.
PK> Dont panic, thats the way it now works. This change
PK> confused me at first too, but it actually makes sense
PK> because less keystrokes are needed to quote multiple lots
 PK> of 4 lines........;-)

That one is a pain, and I am still wondering if the module from Max 2 can
be extracted and put into Max 3.1?

I found this not to be a part of Max also - it was something in the
settings I had for my other mdoem that were not compatible with the one
on the BBS for some reason. I fixed that one too, with the help of a
good friend. It had to do with the hardware and software flow controls.

PP> Not being very technically minded, and definitely not
PP> knowing what all the terminology in the DOC fiels
PP> means, I guess you can say that RTFM is NOT working for
PP> me. All help and advice will be more than appreciated.

PK> It sounds like most Maximus related things are running fine
PK> (as I would expect), and yes, Maximus 3 does seem to run
PK> SMOOTHER than Maximus 2 did, however that is rather
 PK> subjective.

There are a few little things - like I never had the Kill feature made
available, since I seem to have a few callers who love killing off any
messages they can. When I ran the upgrade, the one place that it reappeared
was in the option line after you read your own mail - Next message, yes, no,
again, kill, reply? That took me a few moments to come across in the menus.ctl
file, but I happened upon it only by accident. I was actually looking for a
few of the supposed new feature, to see how they worked. I guess I will have
to do some reading after all.

 PK> I hope some of this helps..........pk.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write....
