        Mike, Here's two more hints for ya'.  
        If you HAVE to use tape, cut the edge with a steel ruler first.  The
        factory edge on masking tape stimks.
        Better yet, use a product called "Bob Dively's Liquid Mask."    Paint
        it on, let it dry overnight, cut out your design, and peel away the 
        mask where you wish to paint.  Put it on THICK, with runs and all,
        it's much easier to cut and peel if you do.
