                            HAYES V.34 UPDATE
Good News!
----------
ITU-T V.34 has been approved and your Hayes modem supports both the V.34
and V.FC communications standards.
V.34 supports 28,800 bit/s and with V.42bis data compression, you can
transfer files at up to 230,400 bit/s (230,400 bit/s for OPTIMA products
and 115,200 bit/s for ACCURA products.) Your modem already supports
these speeds with industry standard V.FC (V.Fast Class).
There are already over 1 million installed V.FC modems. So your Hayes
modem with V.34 and V.FC allows you to connect with either a V.34 or
V.FC modem and maintain high speed communications performance.
Your modem supports automatic speed negotiation and will automatically
negotiate the fastest possible speed for each call you make, whether you
are calling a modem that supports V.34, V.FC or both communications
standards.
Hayes Standard AT Command Set
-----------------------------
Your modem supports the AT Commands and S-registers in your User's
Guide. With V.34 approval, your modem also supports the following:
Command | Description
================================================================
B33     | V.34 when handshake begins at 2400 bit/s.
B44     | V.34 when handshake begins at 4800 bit/s.
B53     | V.34 when handshake begins at 7200 bit/s.
B65     | V.34 when handshake begins at 9600 bit/s.
B72     | V.34 when handshake begins at 12000 bit/s.
B77     | V.34 when handshake begins at 14400 bit/s.
B80     | V.34 when handshake begins at 16800 to 28800 bit/s.
S95
---
The S95 register now supports an extra value for enabling MODULATION
result codes. The new bitmap table is as follows:
Value | Bit          |  Function
========================================================================
1 | 0 | CONNECT result code (verbose or numeric)
      | | indicates the line speed (rather than the
      |              |  DTE speed).
========================================================================
2     | 1            |  Append "/ARQ" to the verbose CONNECT result code
      | | if the protocol is not "NONE". Example:
      |              |  "CONNECT 9600/ARQ".
========================================================================
4     | 2            |  Enable the CARRIER result codes.
========================================================================
8     | 3            |  Enable the PROTOCOL result codes.
========================================================================
16    | 4            |  reserved
========================================================================
32    | 5            |  Enable the COMPRESSION result codes.
========================================================================
64    | 6            |  reserved
========================================================================
128   | 7            |  reserved
========================================================================
256   | 8            |  Enable the MODULATION result codes.
========================================================================
S109
----
The S109 register now supports both V.34 and V.FC. See you USER'S GUIDE
for a full description of this S-Register.
Result Codes
------------
Add to the result code list in the RESULT CODES chapter.
Numeric    |    Verbose
========================================================================
 120       |    MODULATION: Bell 103
 121       |    MODULATION: Bell 212
 122       |    MODULATION: V.21
 123       |    MODULATION: V.23
 124       |    MODULATION: V.22 bis
 125       |    MODULATION: V.32
 126       |    MODULATION: V.32 bis
 127       |    MODULATION: V.FC
