Some years ago, after I got Internet access, I was looking for a way
to get my fix of FidoNet echos without making lots of separate phone
calls, plus many local BBSs were shutting down. I found out about
telnetting into BBSs which were 'attached' to the Internet. I heard
about the "My Desk" board in your neck of the woods and found Vicki
Fletcher to be a most pleasant and helpful sysop.
End result... I live in south-eastern Australia, but conduct any
FidoNet "business" out of a BBS near Tacoma in the state of Washington
in the United States!
Ah, the wonders of modern communications ;-b
It's also fun to confuse people
