Not necessarily!  It often makes it easier to figure out where you 
are going in a reply if you need to do massive deleting of quotes!  

And, if you change the thread, it gives the readers a chance to 
go back to the original thread if they want.  

As to taglines, that's the main reason I use BW Native!
