Well, I know that a politician is supposed to represent the people who
elect him, but you seem to be on shaky ground. (Note that shaky
ground is very different from swampy ground and much less desirable
for anymoose.) I dunno? I _might_ be tempted to "debate" the issue
with you, but I think that would fall under the category of writing a
message requiring original thought.
...You may remember that part of my contract as
MooseChat echo moderator states that no original thought will be
required in the course of my duties.
Which reminds me, did the reply from "Opinicus" gezgin{at}spamcop.net
make it to you? I'm not sure whether it is ironic, or not, that a
message that basically asked for a full quote in reply was the only
recent UseNet message which had 'half it's header field "grunged" by
the gateway software. While I did clean up most of it, I didn't
notice that the date field was also messed up. For better or worse,
a check on a few telnet BBSes shows that the date field was somehow
"corrected" at a mail hub further upstream. So, since the message
seems to have made it through various parts of the backbone, I guess
I'll skip trying to "gate" it again.
Meanwhile, I really dislike seeming like a stereotypical "dutiful"
Canadian, but MooseChat message volume is so low that I sorta feel
that every message is precious. How noble, eh? :-/

Great strategy! Why, it's the sort of thing that works whether your
successor is from your own party or another party. As things are now,
Martin can blame all his troubles on you while you shrug and say that
you knew nothing about it.
...Here in Ontario, we are seeing a variation on the theme.
The new Liberal government says that they may not be able to keep all
their election promises because the Conservatives allegedly covered up
how bad Ontario's financial situation really is.
So like, I guess congratulations should go to both the Federal
Liberal Party and the Ontario Liberal Party for pulling out an "oldy
but a goody" and running it past the public a few more times. Gosh,
but I love watching good Performance Artists at work!
In closing, I'll mention that I really am hopeful that the Ontario
Liberal government will be better than the previous Conservative
government. If nothing else, I certainly liked the Liberal election
promises much better than what Conservatives like Mike "Common Sense
Revolution" Harris and his successor Ernie Eves were selling...
