No, no, still wrong. Rockwell haven't changed a thing. What you mean is that
it's only recently that Rockwell-based 33600 modems have become available.
This is nothing to do with Rockwell, but everything to do with modem
manufacturers learning how to tweak the existing chip for 33600. Supra was
among the first; when I got the first 33.6 ROM, I crashmailed Lewin and he
was surprised. Too bad they didn't keep it a secret, even Maestro are in on
the act now :-)

Mind you, Maestro want $160 to upgrade from V.FC to V.34+, which involves a
new datapump and a new ROM. Supra charge $40 USD for the datapump change
(ROM is flash). So for the Maestro, datapump costs say $60, new ROM is say
$10, which leaves $90 for labour. Time to program a ROM, change the PLCC
datapump and the DIP ROM approximately two minutes, 1 minute to test. $30 a
minute. Where can I get such a job?
