Stats can be used any which way, of course...  :)

But, there is some background on those...  There are* more sections
scheduled than used to be, and at least some of them are for the
convenience of the doctor.  But some of them are due to complications
that become apparent due to closer monitoring during labor.

I suspect that some of the mortality may be because they are trying to
save younger fetuses that would otherwise have never made it.  But I
wouldn't be surprised to find that some of them could be from birthing
too early, on ones that are done for convenience rather than need.
