Bay Networks is a Cisco competitor (so they also build routers, &c.);
they also bought out Xylogics, a remote access company (terminal servers
for dial-in modem pools, &c.). I've lost count of the number of
companies Cisco has bought out...

Earlier chips, no; dunno what the current batch do, but I'd suggest if
33.6Kbps isn't already in them, then it shouldn't be far off.
