Well on my accura 28.8  I use the init
AT&F&C1&D2W0S95=1S38=2M0
I have loads of other bitz for adaptive answer fax receive etc...  As far as 
i can remember the W0 S95=1   bits sort out the modem connect responses..
I had probs with it when i was setting up my BBS and it took me a while to 
work it all out :)
