Basically I'm using &F profile, later I've added &E1 and S11=65 (to

speed up dialling) - nothing of that should affect initial connect

speed in my understanding. I have a good phone line (Dynalink has

good diagnostics screens) and that's probably why I get 31.2

connects to David. Someone mentioned USR avoiding 33.6 connects with

Rockwell due to early Rockwell bug - that's likely reason why I

don't see 33.6 with this modem. Anyway, I'll see what it will be

like with my isp when he upgrades his Rockwells to 33.6. So far at

28.8 is rock solid (and I've paid lot less than some 28.8 modems

could cost me) so I don't complain.
