Open control panel,
go to system,
click on the advanced tab,
and at the bottom is a radio button labeled "Environmental Variables".
Path is one of the system variables in the lower window.
Click on it,
select edit
and *carefully* add ;c:\compress (or whatever directory you want) to
the end.
