The important factor is not how far you are from the exchange but the total
lenght of copper in the circuit - (you to your exchange) + (from the other
exchange to the other modem). Something between 3 and 4 km was quoted the
other night by a Maestro rep at a meeting as the limit for 28.8 to 33.6
calls.
