So, you're saying you'd rather exchange one error for another?

BTW, you can make chown "invisible" to non-root users by logging
in as root and
typing:
mv /bin/chown /sbin/chown

..at least that's how it'd be done under Linux.  I imagine FreeBSD would be
similar.
