Hello Russell!

Not mine. I have %C2 set (V.42 or no compression). I've had a bit of trouble
connecting to said modem today; one lost carrier, one no-EC, so I've
disabled V.42 (fallback to MNP4) which seemed to do the trick, although
that might be coincidental.

Good question. I would guess that all manufacturers will fix this
eventually (or that USR will "fix" it in some fashion). The trick
to doing 33600 on the existing Rockwell chip spread pretty fast, so I guess
so will this one. (Unless Rockwell faxed all their purchasers and told them
how to do 33600; I doubt it. Perhaps everyone disassembled Supra's
firmware?)

Spirit seem to have spent some time on the Viper firmware, eg assymetric
rates which Viper and Supra had long before anyone else (if they do yet
even).

Hamish
