I've never done it that way, but you'd need a big array to hold the pixels, 
etc.  I think it'd be easier to just read in the graphic file in BSAVE 
format.  If you REALLY know how to do what you want in QB, then why won't 
that way work in PB?  Is the solution staring you right in the face?
I don't have more to offer about this.
