part of the problem is the ambiguity in the MSGID/REPLY spec... what
fidonet system address should be used by bluewave to create the REPLY
serial number with? how can it ensure that it doesn't create a serial
number already used within the last three years by the bbs or another user?

this is but one of the reasons that non-ftn offline mail stuff is broken
and not a good idea to use with fidonet messages... the absolute *BEST*
method is to become a point system and use truely compliant software
leaving BW and others like it in the dust... they were born of an entirely
different system that has nothing remotely similar to fidonet other than a
few message header fields and the message bodies...
