Made one of these for my 10 inch Newt. Its very much similar to a design i
found on the web by one Edmund H. Stevens. Ive got a printout but dont
have a URL for it. From the ATM archives it appears his email is
if you want to ask him about it. This turned out to be
really easy to make with basic tools. Being an offset spider design it is
also VERY rigid with surprisingly little tension on the wires.
First effort used 10lb nylon coated wire (fishing trace) which was thin,
but broke once when i was trying to collimate. I re-did it using the same
100lb wire i used to brace the truss structure and this seems to work well.
I'll definitley use this system for my next scope.
