Greetings Kees!
KvE>>> I remember one from my own past. Engeneering drawings were to be
KvE>>> in metrics. A hole of 6mm was needed. The designer checked the
KvE>>> conversion table and put 6.0452 mm as the size of the hole. In
KvE>>> the workshop the conversion table was used again and it was found
KvE>>> that the hole had to drilled with a size B drill.
RW>> I don't suppose that you or anyone else in Europe has ever seen a B
RW>> drill, let alone know what size it is.
RW>> I have several in my drill indexes. They all measure 6.04mm...
KvE> You could read before you answer.
What? You mean spoil the fun! You see, there is no such thing as a
6.0452mm drill.
KvE> And your assumptions are wrong.
I didn't make any assumptions.
KvE> Your drills are worn, they should measure 6.0452mm
That's not it at all. My drills are not worn, but virgin drills out of the
box. My B-drill measures .2382", which would make your 6.0452mm hole
bigger than required, or 6.05mm.
Have a day!
