How radical are we talking here?
If it burps along at 2lb's idle vacuum and only idles at 1100rpm
it will fail.
On older cars the trick is ignition. If you have an old block with a
radical cam or manifold etc. your ignition HAS to be up to par.
If you still have an old points distributor throw it out and
go for an MSD or other hi-per ignition system.
If you are not burning what is in your cylinders you are pumping it out
your tailpipe. And then you will fail.
A high lift high duration cam will only pass if it has a top notch
ignition. Otherwise it will just pump to much through the exhaust.
... A strange new way to show affection.
